This is the first thing I’m putting here, so it’s really a note to myself more than to anyone reading.
I’ve lost count of the games I’ve started and quietly let die. It always goes the same way. I build alone, get stuck or bored somewhere in the middle, and a few months later there’s nothing left to show for any of it. So I’m trying the opposite this time, where I can’t pretend it didn’t happen.
There’ll be two kinds of posts. The longer ones are essays, where I try to actually understand why some games work, usually because I got it wrong in my own. The short ones are devlogs like this one, just notes on what I tried that week and whether it held up.
And one rule, mostly so I don’t chicken out: the dead ends go in here too, not only the parts that went well. Those are the bits I’d normally delete, and they’re usually the most useful ones. Not this time.
